WHEREAS, the right to vote - - - - to vote In secret and to have
your vote count - - - - is a great right, grounded in the faith that the average
judgment of all of us together, male and female, over twenty - one years of
age, will help perpetuate our American way of life, the grandest concept of
government ever devised by man; and
WHEREAS, in t hi s atom-splitting age those e ligible to do so
will vote in both the primary and general elections on the gravest issues in
the history of mankind; and
WHEREAS it is the duty of all eligible voters to register if
they have not already done so, and to vote for the election of those who will
hold office in our representative form of government; and
WHEREAS, a t the request of the League of Women Vote rs, the
month of March, 1958, has been set aside as " REGISTR ATION MONTH" IN
BALTIMORE, to give our peopl e the opportunity to exe..-cise their rights under
the C onstitution of the United States and th e laws of the City or Baltimore and
the State of Maryland.
NOW , THEREFORE, I, THOMAS D'ALESANDRO, JR., MAYOR
