Origins Through Documents

Within the League of Women Voters of Baltimore City Records sits a wealth of primary documents pertaining to more than just the political, social, and cultural history of the city of Baltimore. This collection contains the evolution of a unique organization that is directly linked to the women's suffrage movement. Non-partisan in mission, this organization continues to advocate for women, voters, and active citizens on a local and global scale, as it has done for a century.

In the earliest days of the Baltimore City League, pragmatism and collaboration were the key to their success-- and have been preserved in this collection. For the tactile and avid researcher, this collection is of particular interest for its diversity of objects, from charts and publications to personal correspondence, photographs, and secondary news clippings collected in scrapbooks.

The documents displayed below are a small selection from the League of Women Voters of Baltimore City Records archival collection. They are examples of the variety of objects housed within the archival collection, ranging from brochures, correspondence, glossaries and publications. They show administrative functions of the League and examples of their collected ephemera.
